Leadership programme
Initiative and Responsibility
At Miras International School, leadership is viewed as a journey of growth, responsibility, and meaningful contribution. The Leadership Programme empowers students to become confident, responsible, and proactive members of both the school and wider community by encouraging initiative, collaboration, and service.
Through active participation in school life, student-led initiatives, service projects, and community engagement, students develop the confidence and skills needed to become thoughtful and effective leaders in an increasingly interconnected world.

Purpose of the programme
- Encourage students to take initiative and responsibility
- Develop confidence, independence, and decision-making skills
- Foster teamwork, collaboration, and effective communication
- Promote integrity, empathy, and respect for others
- Inspire active participation in school and community life
- Support the development of internationally minded future leaders
At Miras, leadership is understood not simply as holding a position of authority, but as the ability to make a positive difference, inspire others, and contribute meaningfully to the community.
Leadership across the ib continuum
Leadership development at Miras progresses throughout the IB continuum, with students gaining increasing opportunities to demonstrate initiative, responsibility, and service at every stage of learning.
Primary Years Programme (PYP): Student Agency
In the PYP, students develop leadership through agency, learning to take ownership of their learning through voice, choice, and action. They are encouraged to make decisions, collaborate, and contribute positively to the school community.
Middle Years Programme (MYP): Service as Action
In the MYP, students strengthen leadership through Service as Action, applying their learning to meaningful projects that promote responsibility, collaboration, and positive contributions to the community.
Diploma Programme (DP): CAS
In the Diploma Programme, students further develop leadership through CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service), engaging in experiences that foster initiative, reflection, personal growth, and meaningful community involvement.
This progressive approach helps students develop into confident, caring, and internationally minded leaders.
