Healthy and Balanced Nutrition
At Miras International School Almaty, we recognise that healthy nutrition is an essential part of student well-being, development, and academic success. The school provides healthy, balanced, and age-appropriate meals designed to support the physical growth, energy, and concentration of every student throughout the school day.
Our school menu is carefully developed in accordance with recommended nutritional standards, taking into account:
- Age-appropriate caloric requirements
- Balanced nutritional value
- Appropriate levels of sugar and salt
- Regular inclusion of vegetables and fruits
- Variety and balanced repetition of meals throughout the week
All meals are thoughtfully prepared with an emphasis on healthy and diet-conscious nutrition.
Thoughtfully Planned Menus
The school operates on a four-week rotating menu, ensuring nutritional variety and a balanced diet for students of different age groups. Meal schedules are adapted according to students' developmental needs.
Early Years: Preschool
Children receive five meals per day with approximately 3.5-hour intervals, including:
- Breakfast
- Vitamin snack break
- Lunch
- Afternoon snack
- Dinner
Kindergarten and Primary School
Students receive four meals per day, including:
- Breakfast
- Vitamin snack break
- Lunch
- Afternoon snack
Middle and High School
Students receive three meals per day, designed to support healthy nutrition and active learning throughout the school day:
- Breakfast
- Lunch
- Afternoon snack
Meal Options by Age Group
For students from Early Years through Primary School, meals are provided according to a daily approved menu, ensuring balanced and consistent nutrition.
Beginning from Grade 5, students are offered greater independence and may choose their meals from a daily selection of 2–3 menu options, allowing students to make healthy choices while maintaining balanced nutrition.
Individual Dietary Support
At Miras, we understand that some students require special dietary accommodations. The school carefully supports students with dietary restrictions, including:
- Food allergies
- Lactose intolerance
- Dairy protein intolerance
- Gluten intolerance and other dietary needs
These students are monitored by the school's medical service, and meals are individually adapted to ensure safety, comfort, and appropriate nutrition.
Quality and Safety Control
The organisation and quality of school meals are regularly monitored to ensure the highest standards of nutrition and food safety.
Nutritional services are supervised by the Sanitary Control Service of the Medical Center of the Administrative Office of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, while daily quality control is conducted by the school's internal food quality monitoring commission.
